THE STUDY

Mei e Pilia Associati is a firm based in Cagliari, founded in 1996 by team leader Dr. Eng. Gianluca Pilia and co-founder Dr. Eng. Luciano Mei. The firm is made up of the 2 owners and internal collaborators, to which various external participations are added based on the needs.
The studio operates in the field of architectural, urban and structural design, and combines its professional knowledge with companies and private clients, working on the different scales of "design", ranging from urban planning, to the design of villas, commercial premises and residential complexes, to interior architecture and renovation and restoration interventions.
The design approach is based on not identifying a priori with a single architectural movement but on the search for the individual specificities that each project is composed of, in a constant effort to repel banality and monotony, conceiving design not as mere artistic virtuosity detached from the real world but as a continuous search for style and practical solutions.
From these assumptions the “Tailor Made” system was born, or the “tailor-made” project. In this way each intervention is conceived as a unique example that, as in the tailoring field, arises from a careful investigation of the taste and needs of the client, who is followed in the identification of the best stylistic and compositional solution capable of satisfying aesthetic, regulatory and commercial needs. The “Tailor Made” has as its ultimate goal the satisfaction of the client, who finds in the studio the cultural, artistic and technical support to best realize his project. It is an approach based on order and clarity in which functionality and aesthetics are complementary and equal objectives to achieve the goal. This translates into particular attention to the evolution of housing needs, to the demands of the real estate market, to technical innovations and to plant engineering needs.
The twenty-year experience of the studio and the awareness in the choices made allows to follow with determination and coherence the basic design idea, avoiding the mixing of genres, and allowing through an orderly and complete management of the entire design process to arrive at the best final result.
